O'ngo Food Communications has been developing culinary tours and cooking classes for visitors or residents of Korea that would really like to explore the culture of Korea through the food.

I came to Korea 5 years ago without knowing a single Korean word and the culture and the food was very intimidating. Soups came boiling to the table, there were grills in the center of the table and servers brought raw meat to you, when you ordered rice soup and side dishes followed, there were kimchi and sidedishes scattered all over the table, and I was given raw pieces of garlic and peppers with my meal. As exciting as this all sounds, at first glance, I thought I wanted to just run away. Over time, I learned the reasons for these different practices: Koreans like meat right off the grill; the meat is considered the appetizer and the rice and soup is considered the meal- so to complete the meal, you should eat rice; the kimchi and side dishes are signs of the restaurant's generosity and skill in cooking; and the peppers and garlic were supposed to be eaten raw or added to meat wrap to add flavor (which to this day, I won't do).

Honestly, I wish someone was there to explain everything to me. During my time in Korea I have learned a lot about food and I have written about my food experiences on my blog: www.seouleats.com

That's why that I started O'ngo Food Communications with Professor Jia Choi, Michelle Min, and Hyejin Kim. We are all foodies that are very knowledgeable about Korean food and we have a wide range of culinary tours and cooking classes to show you the real Korea.

If you are interested in joining us for a tour or class, feel free to contact me at seouleats@gmail.com. or call at +82 10 6706 7769 (010-6706-7769 if you in the country of Korea) E-mail me and I'll send you my phone number if you'd like to call.

I hope to hear from you soon.

Cheers,

Daniel Gray
Founder and Creator of Seouleats.com
